OVERVIEW

With over a quarter of a billion monthly listeners in the U.S. and over 129 million social followers, iHeartMedia has the largest national reach of any radio or television outlet in America. Axis Mechanical, along with the team of Turner Construction Company and HKS, Inc., were retained to upgrade the San Francisco office of iHeartRadio. This project includes the complete demolition of existing offices to accommodate new radio studios with two VRF air conditioning systems and a total of 19 fan coil zones.

With 80% of the ductwork exposed, this will be one gorgeous studio when complete. A unique challenge for this project was the NC (noise criteria) rating for soundproofing, requiring all ductwork to be internally lined with zero wall or ceiling contact (other than mounting). This “floating” ductwork really is a work of art.

SCOPE
  • Installed all HVAC Duct and accessories, 19 Fan Coil Units, exhaust fan on roof, rooftop Condensing Units, rooftop Heat Pump and new rooftop Mechanical equipment with flashings
  • Insulated all HVAC Duct and HVAC Pipe
  • Coordinated and laid out all HVAC Duct and HVAC pipe penetrations through walls and roof, coring and scanning for penetrations
