Axis Mechanical, Inc. is a specialty commercial mechanical contractor serving the largest companies in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. The Axis Mechanical team is known for delivering some of the most complex and involved design-build commercial HVAC mechanical contracting services in Northern California.

We work in a broad range of facilities including bio-tech, data centers, clean rooms, hospitals, MOBs, and large corporate offices.

We are currently adding a Financial Controller to our team. The Controller will be responsible for leading the finance and accounting function for the company and working with the leadership team to ensure the finance health of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all facets of accounting
Manage a four-person team
Prepare monthly financial reports and review with leadership team
Ensure timely and accurate accounts receivable progress billings based on various contract client terms.
Produce and review financial reports for AR and assist with collections
Oversee payments to vendor and subcontractors and confirm lien waivers are collected
Monitor daily cash balances
Review and monitor the preparation of payroll for all employees (union and non-union), including the timely submission of monthly union reports
Develop annual budgets and support annual planning process
Oversee the monthly job cost reporting
Lead banking relationships and support bonding as needed
Balance sheet, reconcile, quarterly reports
Develop financial projections
Prepare annual financial budget and update the forecasts quarterly
Support the professional development of accounting team through proactive coaching and mentoring

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience leading Accounting and related functions
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
Master degree preferred
Prior experience as a Financial Controller, preferably in the Construction industry
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to provide financial leadership with a strategic sensibility
